At around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday night, officers were called to the 6000 block of Surrey Square Lane, where a woman made an emergency call stating she felt unsafe.

According to Major Harkirat Singh from the Prince George's County Police Department, officers were able to make contact with the residents in the apartment, who advised that a person possibly has a gun, prompting them to evacuate the unit.

They then made contact with the disorderly suspect, during which one officer discharged his service weapon, though no one was struck. The man then was taken into custody.

What led to the shooting remains under investigation on Monday, police say, noting that a gun was recovered "in the proximity" of the suspect. No injuries were reported.

The officer-involved shooting is under investigation.

More information is expected to be released.
